LOB apps are all about getting data in and out of db's. I'll be talking about writing code to do just that

Talking at North Shore DNUG

I'll be talking at the North Shore .net User Group this coming Thursday, 14th April on the Query Object pattern.

As a guy that writes line-of-business apps, I get to solve business problems. As often as not, this involves getting data out of a database and/or putting it back in again.

This talk will cover a few aspects of this: I'll discuss the Query Object pattern, and we'll go over acronyms a-plenty, including ADO, ORM and almost certainly GoF.

The talk will be at 6:15, Massey University in Albany.

Hope to see you there!

What level are you pitching this at, Ian? eg 100, 200, etc.

What do you expect people to know before they come? And who shouldn't come along?

@David Good question, and always difficult to answer. Ivan tells me that if you open VS then it's instantly 200, and if you talk about coding it's a 300...

It's aimed at devs who may or may not have actually heard of the Query Object pattern (even if they've written code that fits that pattern, they may not have realised it); who may or may not use ORM's but who may not understand what work the ORM is doing for them.

Who shouldn't come? People not bothered about programming...
