Speaking at Ellerslie .NET User Group
Next week (Wednesday 23rd March, 2011) I'll be presenting at Ellerslie .NET User Group. Here's the blurb:
XAML is a powerful, flexible, declarative syntax, used to create WPF, Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 user interfaces. It is designed to be tooled (being XML-based) but even today, the tooling (and I’m looking at you, Expression Blend!) can make a poor job of creating code that is easy to read and hence maintain.
This ‘getting started’ session will cover off two main topics of hand-writing XAML – Styles and Templates. What are they? How do we use them? How do they make my code cleaner?
If you have never looked at Silverlight or WPF, if you’ve been meaning to, or if you have just started and are finding it quite daunting – this ‘back-to-basics’ session could well be for you.
If you're in the area - come along! Should be fun :)
Note: It's tomorrow (Wednesday, 23rd March) at 10 Cawley Street, Ellerslie, Auckland. Doors open at 5:45 for a 6pm start.
See you there!
